The second international summer school of the Erasmus Intensive Programme “Structural Architectures - geometry, code and design” took place in Kaiserslautern from September 1st to 11th 2012 with eight professors, three guest lecturers and twenty students from the partner universities. The objective of the topic was the use of structural thinking as a method for designing architecture. Formulating rules on the basis of mathematical, geometric, physical, compositional and functional structures and their translations in spatial configurations and relationships between elements marked the starting point of the design project. The interaction of different disciplines in a structural approach is an important aspect of this Intensive Programme in the framework of the European Erasmus Programme.
